NAPSG will provide log-in details prior to Sept 10

Please join NAPSG Foundation’s next virtual training, on Wednesday, September 10th at 12:30 p.m. (EDT) to explore the latest version of the GIS Inventory System, developed and hosted by  the National States Geographic Information Council.  Learn how you can easily discover and access GIS data produced by others in the emergency management community.  Version 6 of the GIS Inventory is an all-new system that provides vastly improved search capabilities, methods to automatically harvest your information, and ways to embed its features on your own websites.

We are reliant on geospatial technologies to help us plan for, mitigate, respond to, and recover from emergency events and disasters, which are striking with increasing frequency and ferocity.  However, very few jurisdictions have all of the data that they need to deal with these events.  Being able to locate and access data in surrounding jurisdictions is a critical component of geospatial preparedness.  This is especially true during mutual aid events where your teams may be unfamiliar with their new surroundings.  The GIS Inventory can provide this capability if it is widely adopted by the emergency management community.

Spend an hour with NAPSG to learn how you can create an account; manually inventory your data, or automatically ‘harvest’ the information from your systems; effectively search for data produced by others; use the directory of GIS professionals; embed the search capabilities on your own web pages; and move your information to other national systems to provide ready access to FEMA, DHS and others.

The GIS Inventory provides emergency managers and responders with a new tool, and a significant advantage in preparing for, and responding to their communites’ needs.  Learn how to integrate this tool in your operations.
