seeking a junior research engineer intern to work in a collaborative and versatile team-oriented research environment with a multi-disciplinary group of researchers at ARA and national and international university faculty focused in computer vision, statistical analysis, machine learning, and information fusion. Geospatial Data Development and Curation  – EPA
The selected candidate shall support the EnviroAtlas community component with geospatial data development and curation, involving the manipulation and management of many large data sets. He/she shall perform ongoing quality control and metadata documentation as an integral part of this support. Environmental Specialist / Wildlife Data Specialist
This position will work under a cooperative agreement to ensure data collected by Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) biologists and partners are incorporated into the applications supported by the Natural Heritage Program (NHP) and made available to the Clean Water Management Trust Fund (CWMTF), thereby improving the overall completeness, accuracy, and practical use of the data. The work will not only benefit conservation work conducted by WRC, NHP, and CWMTF, but also will benefit that of many other state and federal agencies, non-government organizations, and private businesses. The duty station will be the Nature Research Center, and will report to the director of the Natural Heritage Program. Acquire New Element Occurrence Records for Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) from staff of the Nongame Program of the Commission, partners, and contract biologists working under their supervision. Enter field observations meeting NHP data standards into NHP Biotics database and mapping application. Review and Improve Existing Element Occurrence Records – Perform annual maintenance updates or comprehensive updates for Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN), as appropriate. Provide customer support for the Natural Heritage Data Explorer website and GIS shape files upon request. The Natural Heritage Data Explorer is an online interface for viewing data, and includes a custom full screen Map Viewer that has been developed using JavaScript and ArcGIS JavaScript. This allows non-GIS users to view and generate custom maps of project areas and species. Work with NHP conservation data mangers to assist in performance of standard quality control checks. Annually Update the Biodiversity and Wildlife Habitat Assessment layer of the Conservation Planning Tool.
