What is TAG?

Triangle Area GIS (TAG) is a networking organization for professionals who work with GIS in the Triangle region of North Carolina. TAG is a social networking group for local professionals. TAG members can drive to have lunch or coffee with each other, and refer each other for local opportunities. TAG will provide news and announcements that affect the Triangle area GIS professionals.

Who can join TAG?

Anyone who uses GIS as an aspect of their work or education. Whether you are a GIS professional, planner, student as long as you use GIS you are welcome to join!

Is there a membership fee?

No, TAG has no membership fee.

What if I’m not in the Triangle Area? Are there any plans to launch a site for my region?

Yes! Currently we are getting the Triangle Area up and running, but we are planning to serve other major regions of NC. Stay tuned, and watch our news page.

Can this group count towards my CON-1 GISP requirement?

Yes! Each year you are a member of TAG can count for 1 point on the CON-1 form.


Are there rules for interacting with others on TAG?

Yes. Basic forum netiquette applies. Anyone caught abusing TAG or harassing its members  will be suspended.

How do I become a sponsor?

We want to reduce the noise for members while still encouraging organizations or companies to participate. Upcoming events will need locations, refreshments, so there will be opportunities to sponsor specific activities soon.

Currently we are not accepting web-ads, but this may change in the future. If you or your company are interested in becoming a TAG sponsor, please contact us via the contact us web form with SPONSOR in the subject line.
